About NAPEN

The Pediatric and Neonatal Anesthesia Committee (NAPEN) of the Anesthesiology Discipline at the Faculdade de Medicina, Universidade de São Paulo (FMUSP), actively engages in assistance, teaching, research, and extension activities within the FMUSP-HC complex.

While its clinical services primarily operate from the Instituto da Criança e do Adolescente (ICr), NAPEN members also provide assistance at other institutes within the HCFMUSP hospital complex, including the Instituto do Coração (InCor), Instituto de Ortopedia e Traumatologia (IOT), and Instituto Central (ICHC).

In terms of teaching, NAPEN conducts activities with anesthesiology residents at HCFMUSP during their structured rounds in pediatric anesthesiology. Additionally, it offers a competitive 12-month specialized fellowship program. Concerning research, NAPEN coordinates research lines on various topics within pediatric anesthesiology.

Many of these projects involve partnerships with international research institutions. On the extension front, there are several activities in voluntary projects, particularly in missions where access to pediatric anesthesiologists is limited.
